Steps to overcoming challenges of life – Part 5

– Helmet and Sword

Ephesians 6:17

And take the helmet of salvation,

and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

This post is going to be very quick so please run with me.

Our salvation is a big deal! Please think about it, the maker of the Heaven and the Earth wanted to save us from Hell and he used His only son to purchase our freedom. Look here, the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23) and yes I know what you are thinking, you have been living a holy life but the bible says that we inherited sin from our ancestor. And, there is no one righteous not even one (Roman 3:10). The criteria for going to heaven is a righteous life so God Almighty in his love designed a system that meant that his beloved son would take our sins away. That system is called salvation.

Steps to overcoming challenges of life – Part 5

God’s love is such a big deal that he wants us to talk about it. Literally, carry it on our head. The bibles say that we are the light of the world and a city set on a hill cannot be hidden. If people around you don’t know you are saved then you are not making God proud. Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. (Acts 4:13)

People need to be able to identify you as a Christian and it is not by carrying a big bible or covering your hair. You must be Christlike – courageous, compassionate, passionate about the work of God.

The Sword is a very important tool to carry, the sword is a word of God.

A Christian that is not filled with the word of God is living a risk. Such an individual can easily be swept away by all manner of doctrine. Such an individual may not understand the provisions that had been made on his behalf. When you have the sword of the spirit, you would know that Isiah 54:17 says that no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. Isiah 8:18 reminds us that we were made for signs and wonders.  It is an open secret that the economy is very frustrating however when you carry the sword of the spirit, you remind yourself that when people say there is a casting down you would say there is a lifting up.

God’s love is ever faithful and ever true.

Overcoming life’s challenges is cheap when you understanding the principles. Start now, put on the WHOLE armor of God.
